Our History

Healthy Culpeper was established in 1997 as the result of a community health assessment conducted by Culpeper Regional Hospital. This "alliance of stakeholders" has grown to include a Board of Directors, Community Partners, and 4 Working Committees organized on the lifespan including Early Childhood, Youth, Teen/Prevention Coalition, and Adult/Senior. 501c3 status was achieved in June of 2004.

Our Goals and Values
Our overall goals are to facilitate networking among community partners, knowledge about and funding development of community programs, and connections with community resources. Values that we hold first for ourselves include: Accountability, Compassion, Courage, Integrity, Sense of Purpose, and Tolerance. Values that are essential in good partners include: Commitment, Communication, Cooperation, Innovation, and Respect. Values that relate to the ideal community include: Adaptability, Caring, Citizenship, Collaboration, Fairness, Family-like Support, Idealism, Responsibility, and Service.

Community Partners (CP)
We are made up of 50+ Community Partners-nonprofits, government agencies, and organizations that provide services or conduct programming in the County of Culpeper. We meet each month for a networking lunch to hear presentations, participate in roundtables and make announcements or provide information on programs and services. If you'd like to attend or add yourself to our email list, please contact our Operations Coordinator, Vicki Richards Two members of our Community Partners also serve as elected representatives to the Board of Directors.

Committees
For those interested in delving more deeply into community issues, Healthy Culpeper's 4 committees offers that opportunity. They include: Early Childhood, Youth, Teen/Prevention Coalition, and Adult/Senior. They are the "workhorse" of the organization-focusing in on their area to devise plans, programming and partnerships with others to create innovative and efficient solutions to community issues.
